Try:

LH roots:

D → G → C

RH guide-tone voicings:

Dm7: F-C

G7: F-B

Cmaj7: E-B

Then expand:

Dm7: F-A-C-E

G7: F-A-B-D

Cmaj7: E-G-B-D

Now rhythmically break those voicings.

This begins to sound much more jazz-like.
