Workshop 73 — Transitional Harmony and “Glue Chords”: Connecting Sections Smoothly Without Over-Reharmonizing

Workshop 72 focused on orchestration: deciding which imagined instrumental roles are active and where they live on the keyboard.

Now we tackle another arranging problem that becomes increasingly important once your arrangements have multiple textures and style changes:

How do you move from one section, groove, register, or harmonic world into another without the transition sounding pasted together?

The answer is often not “more chords.”

It is one or two carefully chosen glue events:
