73.97Mini-composition exercise

Write three 8-bar sections:

A — major swing.

B — minor/modal.

C — straight-eighth funk or bossa.

Create two different transitions:

A→B

Must be smooth.

Requirements:

  • one common tone
  • one chromatic inner-line move
  • no silence
B→C

Must be dramatic.

Requirements:

  • stop-time or full rest
  • new groove begins clearly
  • one motif from B reappears in C

Do not use more than two connector chords at either boundary.

The transitions should feel designed rather than decorated.
