Workshop 78 — Upper-Structure Voice Leading in Motion: Keeping Rich Extensions Smooth Across Chords Instead of Treating Each Voicing as a Separate Shape

Workshop 77 focused on playing through changes by compressing several chords into larger harmonic paths.

Now we apply that same idea to voicings.

A common intermediate problem is this:

You know beautiful altered, Lydian, sus, and upper-structure voicings—but every chord change feels like picking up one shape and replacing it with another.

That creates correct harmony, but often poor continuity.

How do we make rich voicings move like connected voices rather than jump like separate chord diagrams?
