First:

Cmaj7 → Am7 → Dm7 → G7

Second:

Cmaj7 → A7 → Dm7 → G7

Third:

Cmaj7 → A7 → Dm7 → D♭7 → C6/9

This is an excellent way to demonstrate increasing harmonic color.
