Because the melody is public domain, make four verses:

Verse 1: C major.

Verse 2: direct D♭ lift.

Verse 3: use a pivot/dominant route into F or G.

Verse 4: return to C.

Keep the melody recognizable.

The exercise is to hear how the exact same tune acquires different energy from different modulation strategies.
