7.1First principle: slow music exposes everything

At a slow tempo, the listener has time to hear:

  • every voicing
  • every clash
  • every bad pedal change
  • every awkward bass note
  • every overfilled gap

So slow ballad playing is not “easier because there are fewer notes.”

It is often harder.
