17.9Grace notes

A grace note is a very quick ornamental note before the main note.

For example:

D♯ → E

D♯ → E

with D♯ played almost as a flick.

On piano you can physically slide or quickly strike:

black key → neighboring white key.

Examples:

D♯ → E

F♯ → G

F♯ → G

G♯ → A

G♯ → A

This can immediately create blues/gospel/jazz flavor.
