9.19Parallel motion

Two voices move in the same direction by the same interval.

Example:

C-E

to:

D-F

both move up a whole step.

This is parallel motion.

In classical counterpoint, certain parallels are restricted.

For our current purposes:

Be aware of it, but don't obsess over rules yet.

We care more about musical sound and stylistic context.
