5.35Functional ear training: don't name chords

Have someone—or yourself, with eyes closed after placing your hand—play:

C

then:

G7

then:

C

Instead of naming the chords, identify:

home → tension → home

Then:

C → F → G7 → C

Hear:

home → away → tension → home

We are training function before absolute pitch recognition.

That is much more directly useful for playing by ear.
