4.14Create a smooth bass line with inversions

Take:

C → G → Am → F

C → G → Am → F

If you play all roots in the bass:

C → G → A → F

C → G → A → F

large jumps.

But use:

C → G/B → Am → F

C → G/B → Am → F

Bass becomes:

C → B → A → F

C → B → A → F

Now even smoother:

C → G/B → Am → F/A → G

C → G/B → Am → F/A → G

Bass:

C → B → A → A → G

C → B → A → A → G

You can deliberately design the bass movement.
