A. Major scales

Play slowly:

C, G, D, F, B♭

Say the scale degrees aloud.

B. Circle of Fifths

Play:

C G D A E

then:

C F B♭ E♭ A♭

Don't worry about the rest yet.

C. Key signatures

Know immediately:

C = 0

G = 1♯

D = 2♯

A = 3♯

F = 1♭

B♭ = 2♭

E♭ = 3♭

D. Diatonic chords

In C:

C Dm Em F G Am B°

In G:

G Am Bm C D Em F♯°

In F:

F Gm Am B♭ C Dm E°

E. Function

In each of C, G, D, and F, play:

I → IV → V → I

Then:

I → vi → ii → V → I

F. Ear

Play V → I in several keys and listen for the same resolution.
