2.28Practical mini-project

Take a very simple melody you know by ear.

Do this in C major:

  1. Find the melody.
  2. Identify important notes by scale degree.
  3. Try accompanying with only: I, IV, V
  4. If something doesn't fit well, add: vi
  5. Record what you chose.

Then transpose the entire thing to G.

Don't write every note down first.

Use degrees.

That's the skill we're building.
