Write a 32-bar solo-piano study where rhythmic independence is the primary compositional idea.

Requirements:

• first 4 bars establish a clear shared pulse
• bass and chord attacks must separate noticeably by bar 5
• one passage with walking quarter-note bass and sparse offbeat comping
• one passage with sustained melody over independently moving inner harmony
• one passage where bass announces a harmonic change before RH
• one where RH anticipates bass
• one melody phrase beginning on 4&
• one phrase continuing across a formal 8-bar boundary
• one bar with no chord attacks at all
• one bar with no bass
• one intentionally synchronized ensemble hit
• one section with three distinct articulations: bass, inner comp, melody
• one 3-against-2 or 3-beat-vs-4-beat independence effect
• one two-beat silence where internal time must continue
• final cadence must resolve in stages rather than all parts simultaneously

The piece should sound as if:

several musicians are listening to one another while sharing one body.
