When a progression seems impossibly complicated:

1. play the melody
2. play the bass
3. mark the true destinations
4. find the guide-tone lines
5. group approach chords into packets
6. add colors only after the structure is obvious

If step 2–4 work, the intimidating chord symbols usually become much less intimidating.
