Suppose you have:

Am7♭5 → D7 → Gm

followed later by:

Dm7♭5 → G7 → Cm.

When you reach Gm:

do not necessarily stop melodically.

Treat it as a waypoint.

When Cm finally arrives:

give it more weight.
