28.20Anticipating the next chord

One of the most important bossa/pop-jazz devices:

play the upcoming RH chord before the bass changes.

Suppose:

C → Am.

The bass A lands on beat 1 of next bar.

But RH Am voicing might arrive on:

4&

of the preceding bar.

That anticipation creates forward motion.
