49.89Mini-composition exercise
Write 30 bars—five large six-bar units if you like—in C Dorian/Minor.
Requirements:
- main meter 6/4
- 3+3 bass ostinato
- 2+2+2 RH section
- one four-beat repeating motif
- one five-beat repeating motif
- one brief 4/4 section using the same four-beat motif
- one return to 6/4
- one functional G7♭9→Cm cadence
- one rhythmic resolution without harmonic resolution
- one simultaneous harmonic/rhythmic resolution
Keep harmonic roots to roughly three or four.
The goal is not harmonic abundance.
It is temporal architecture.
