Example:

C-D-E♭-G-F.

Repeat every 5 beats.

Bar length: 6.

The alignment returns after:

LCM(5,6) = 30 beats.

That is:

five bars of 6/4.

Now the rhythmic surface can sound extremely unstable even though the meter never moves.
