33.44Level 22 — upper-structure triad approach

Suppose bass is G dominant-ish.

Instead of a conventional G7 voicing, use an upper triad.

Example:

A♭ major over G bass:

A♭ C E♭.

Relative to G:

♭9, 11, ♭13.

Dark suspended/altered color.
