Once drop-2, melody-top voice leading, guide tones, and texture control are fluent, we can do something very powerful:
take an ordinary lead-sheet melody and create a complete solo-piano arrangement without first deciding all the chord symbols.
We can build it from:

The symbols become a summary afterward.
