We’ll use F minor / F blues as our laboratory.

F minor pentatonic:

F blues:

F A♭ B♭ B C E♭

F A♭ B♭ B C E♭

The characteristic added note:

B natural = ♭5

against F.

Play:

B♭ → B → C.

You already know this gesture.

But now we want to make it sound less like a scale exercise and more like speech.
